
Class Descriptions

7 WEEK SAMPLER - Students will exercise skills & learn combinations in various genres such as Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Pom, Hip Hop, Acro, Contemporary, and Musical Theater. Great for new dancers but also great for the student who wants variety & wants to stay active this Summer.

ACRO – Progress in skills such as splits, walk overs, handstands, handsprings and other mat tricks.
Learn Acro tricks in combination with dance choreography.

BALLET – By practicing Ballet barre and center work, the focus is on foundational techniques that will
improve strength and functionality as quality dancers.

BATON - Learn to spin, toss and catch a baton. Build on your baton knowledge from week to week to master your skills!.

BREAK – Touch on standing and ground Break dancing moves. These moves will be incorporated with Hip Hop dance choreography.

CONTEMPORARY – Combining aspects of Moderne, Lyrical, and Jazz dance, explore boundaries of movement through contract-release studies, grounded floor work, and fun and innovative combinations.

DANCE LIKE YO... - Tall & Small class where you will learn a fun dance routine to Megan Trainor's, "Dance Like Yo..."

DANCE WORKOUT - This dance workout class incorporates aerobic warm ups, Yoga and Pilates stretches and ballet barre exercises to strengthen your core. posture and artistry.

FAM JAM - Offered towards the end of the season in your choice of a 6 , 8, or 10 week session. Gather family members to learn a quick routine in any genre of your choice and show it off at recital in June.

HIP HOP – Street style dance concentrating strongly on rhythm. Learn basic and intricate dance steps, incorporating your own personality for a fun class.

JAZZ – Fun choreography to upbeat music. Leaps, turns and other tricks will be incorporated with
traditional and not so traditional movements.

MUSICAL THEATER - Dive into your emotions while we combine acting and dance, along with singing or lip syncing to Broadway musicals and movie musicals. A perfect blend to create a cohesive and entertaining performance!

REST, STRETCH, DESTRESS - Each week visit different ways to learn how to destress your life. Learn various ways to rejuvenate your mind, body and soul as well as relax them. This is a light, no thinking, stress free class to end your day on a good note and prepare for a restful nights sleep.

SALSA - Whether you or single or a couple, learn various styles of Latin dance such as Bachata & Merengue.

BOLLYWOOD & BHANGRA - a unique dance experience that blends the elegance of Indian classical dance forms with the vibrancy and expression of Bollywood-where traditional beats meets modern beats.

SEXY SASS - Bring your sexy back and learn a different alluring routine each class. Build confidence in the skin you're in, in a no judgment zone!

TALL & SMALL CLASSES - Parent and child class. Usually divided into 4 or 6 week session. Tall & Small recital prep classes will be 8-10weeks and participate in recital with their child in a specific genre of dance.

TAP – Rhythm tap focusing on musicality. STLDC offers a more stylized version of tap dance.
